New Colossus Press

About Us

“The New Colossus” is the title of the poem, written by Emma Lazarus in 1883, that now appears on a plaque at the Statue of Liberty. You might recognize these famous lines:

Give me your tired, your poor
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free.

New Colossus Press is founded on the universal desire to breathe free—and our belief in a country where that can happen for every one of us. New Colossus Press is founded on hope.

We are dedicated to publishing books that promote civic-mindedness and openheartedness among readers, young and old. We established the press with a single goal: To put goodness into the world, where it can blossom and become whatever we make it—together.
